This is in response to a letter from a Vietnamese native youth who is now living in
Canada to the Committee for Protection of the Flag of the Republic of Vietnam.

We are assuming that you are one of our Vietnamese native youths
who fled Vietnam with your family to avoid communist reprisal
and or to look for freedom. If this is the case, we may partly
answer you why we have to protect our flag of the
Republic of Vietnam.
This flag is being represented for Democracy, Freedom and Human
Rights that there is none of these in communist regime. We want
to keep this flag alive for those reasons and rights and
hope someday it can be replaced the current communist flag (red
and gold star). We do know our flag does not exist on the
international map, that is why we have to protect and keep it's
alive for such a precious reason. Anybody has to protect the
goodness and throw away the badness,
if they are not good why we have to protect.
The Goodness is Freedom and Democracy.
We are not afraid of communist flag as you might think of, but we can't
observe the communist flag as it is not served on our ideology
and our purpose (Freedom, Democracy and Human Rights) for which
what we are fighting. Our goal and hope is some days Vietnam
becoming a free country such as the country where
you are living now, then believe me our flag will be hoisted again on
our homeland. By the way, do you know the Taiwan Chinese government
still keeps their flag even though its flag is no longer in the
book (only communist flag)? What's wrong with this ?
Accept a flag which is not reflect for what you believe,
is to serve on a wrong purpose.
Why you accept a flag that you will not fight and die for it ?

Keeping our Freedom, Democracy flag is not miseducating our young
generation but to help them know where they are come from and why
they have to leave their country and hope someday
they can come back and change our flag for good.
